MT503: THEOLOGY OF MISSION (4 Units: 160 hours). Kirsteen Kim and Kyung Lan Suh
DESCRIPTION: In this course, students will be introduced to the theology of mission from an evangelical Protestant perspective. Through analysis of key sources and investigation of scholarly contributions which left a lasting impact on 21st century missiology, students will explore Trinitarian perspectives on the missio Dei, the reign of God, and contextual theology.

LEARNING OUTCOMES: Upon successful completion of this course, students will
(1) explain the development of mission theology
(2) critically evaluate evangelical theological perspectives on the missio Dei
(3) appreciate evangelical mission theology in historical and ecumenical perspective
(4) assess the implications of evangelical mission theology for contemporary mission tasks.

COURSE FORMAT: This course will be conducted online on a ten-week schedule aligned with Fuller’s academic calendar for a total of 40 instructional hours. Students are required to interact with the material, with each other, and with the instructor regularly through online discussions, reading, and other assignments that promote active learning.

The following mission practices are suggested: evangelism, church-planting, interreligious dialogue, youth outreach, children at risk, poverty alleviation and development, mission through the arts.
